Admission/Discharge from SGH

Dear all,
On Thursday, 2 Feb, I went to bed early after feeling tired and a little unwell.I also had a little diarrhoea.

During my sleep, I woke several times with cold sweat though I was sleeping with the air-conditioner on. Just before mid-night, I woke up again and this time, I vomitted several times. My BP was about 150/100. I sms-ed Dr William Hwang and was told to go to A&E dept, SGH for admission. I am thankful that my transplant physician bothered to call to enquire about me and to talk to the medical staff on call though it was past midnight when he could have gone to rest for the day.

At about 4am, I was wheeled to ward 72 where I am usually warded. Seeing some of the familiar nursing staff there helped allayed many of my anxieties, knowing that they are specially trained to nurse patients with bone-marrow transplants. Later the duty medical doctor came to clerk my case and I was told that all my blood tests were normal. I was then put on a drip to hydrate my body due to the vomitting and diarrhoea.Thank God it's just Gastroenteritis, must have eaten something wrong that evening. Or chinese new year cookies!

Because of pain in my throat and right ear, I was also refered to see a Senior ENT consultant the next day who is a christian. When he found out what I was working as, he even waived the charges for all the procedures done to check my ear and throat.
He took very good care of me - carefully examining, explaining everything to me. Thank God for placing such fine christian doctors in the healthcare industry to watch over patients like me. Indeed, God is always good, regardless of the sufferings.

Let me share with you one of the greatest blessings so far this year.
My parents came to see me yesterday at my home. What was really wonderful to me was to hear them pray for me. I was specially delighted because I know my uneducated parents have learned to pray in their simple ways though they do not know how to read the bible. And I know that they have learned to call upon the Lord during such times in our family crisis. Above all, I am thankful to hear them give thanks to God for all He's done for us. In fact, the day before, my father called me and at the end of the telephone conversation, for the very first time, I heard him say "Thank you, Lord" in mandarin. Indeed, it was a joy for me just to see them growing in Christ. Thank God for my monthly family prayer meetings. I am seeing more and more fruits and breakthroughs that has come out of the simple gathering of the family to worship, pray and spur one another.

Thank you all for praying for me and my family. Your prayers and encouragement have always helped us to know we are not alone.

Finally, please pray for
1. Whee Ling's grandma who is warded in Ward 73. He is in her 80's and is very ill. She has diabetes and her skin is very badly torn with foul-smelling fluids flowing out.She is a christian and we are releasing her to the Lord. Please pray that God will see her suffering and relief her of it.
